Picking Up a Rental Car at Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi Airport: What to Know
Everything to prepare for an airport pickup and return in Bangkok — timing after landing, documents, inspecting the car, expressways and M-Flow, and returning before your flight.
Collecting your car right after landing saves time and the cost of getting into the city. Our Bangkok branch lets you pick up and return at Don Mueang (DMK) and Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airports — just choose the airport as your pickup and return point when booking. Here is what to know before an airport pickup.
Before your trip
- Book at least 4 hours ahead. Choose the Bangkok branch, then "Don Mueang Airport" or "Suvarnabhumi Airport" as the pickup point. Any fee for the location is shown in your quote before you confirm.
- Leave a buffer after landing. Set the pickup time about 45–60 minutes after your scheduled arrival to allow for deplaning, immigration (international flights) and baggage claim.
- The branch is open 06:00–23:00. For flights outside those hours, after-hours service is available up to 2 hours before opening or after closing (extra fee).
- Upload your documents in your account in advance: Thai nationals need an ID card and driving licence; foreign visitors need a passport plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an English-language driving licence.
- Check the details in "My bookings", and keep your phone on so we can reach you on pickup day.
At pickup
- Show the original documents matching what you uploaded.
- Inspect the car all the way round. Photograph or film existing scratches, wheels, glass and the interior.
- Note the fuel level and odometer. Return with the same fuel level; any shortfall is charged per level.
- Ask the staff about the in-car features you need, such as phone connection or charging.
Driving out of the airport
- Don Mueang is in northern Bangkok, connected to Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and the Don Mueang Tollway. Our Bangkok office in Wong Sawang is also on the north side of the city.
- Suvarnabhumi is to the east, connected to Bang Na–Trat Road, Motorway 7 (towards Chonburi and Pattaya) and expressways into the city — heading east you can skip central Bangkok entirely.
- Expressways and motorways have both cash lanes and automatic lanes. If you use the barrier-free M-Flow lanes, tolls are billed to the car's licence plate, so ask the staff first whether that car can use them. Keep some small cash handy.
- Rush hours (about 07:00–09:30 and 16:30–19:30) are heavy, especially on Fridays and before long weekends.
Returning at the airport
- Allow at least 3 hours before an international departure (2 hours for domestic), including refuelling and the return check.
- Refuel at a station before you reach the airport — there are few inside the airport grounds.
- Collect all your belongings: check the glovebox, under the seats and the boot.
- Late returns are charged by the hour, and several hours late may count as an extra day. If your flight time changes, extend the rental from your booking page.
